First, a joke:

What did the janitor say when he jumped out of the closet...?

SUPPLIES!!!!!!!

And now, a plea:

If you aren't really in the habit of connecting with the version of yourself from the future (1, 5, 10 years from now, for example 🤯), why not take a moment to try it out now?

According to research by Dr. Hal Hershfield, a strange thing happens when we think about ourselves in some future time period.

No, literally -- the part of our brain that lights up when we think about a complete stranger is the same part of our brain that lights up when we think about some future version of ourselves.

Considering the nature of the financial planning profession, this seems like a cool thing to keep in mind. When I get hired to help with putting personal finance puzzles together, part of this role is to find the balance in serving current and future versions of those who have hired me.

So, please take a moment to interact with your future self -- someday, you might just end up thanking yourself 😉

Anyway, please feel welcome to share your thoughts by sending a brief note to hello@leewayplanning.com.

Thanks for your time and have a swell rest of the day.

Sincerely,

Cody L. Ward
